If you follow a handful of Disney Passholders on any form of social media you have seen the sad posts due to the closure of A Bug's Land in Disney's California Adventure. Sorry to break it to you, but this is another sad post as we reminisce some of the time we have spent in A Bug's Land through the years.
A Bug's Land opened in October 2002, and me and my husband, Ian, were some of the very first people to experience this area. We paid for a special Passholder Exclusive event. A Bug's Land had many adorable attractions including everyone's fan favorite, "Heimlich's Chew Chew Train." Honestly, the first day we experienced A Bug's Land it was a flop. The, "Tuck and Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies" weren't working correctly and they were trying to brand the area, "Flik's Fun Fair." The double message seemed to give such a small area a bit of confusion. Also, right off the bat we noticed two huge problems with this land; not enough dinning options, and not enough merchandise. The areas former food and shop were reimagined to be more "Bug Land" friendly, but it never really had the attention to detail the land deserved. The Farmer's Market, Sam Andreas Shakes, and P.T. Flea Market (originally Santa Rose Seed & Supply) were all demolished in 2010 to make way for Cars Land.

Thankfully Disney hit a homerun with the opening of Cars Land, and that area is still my favorite land out of all the Disney Parks in the United States. But, back to our bugs! In early 2016, me and my pal Cupcake did an episode for our web series, "Pinup Adventures of Cupcake and Pie" on A Bug's Land. During the filming my love for A Bug's Land really took off. Maybe it was because my husband always did love the Chew Chew Train, but visiting the land did have a sense of escapism that was not found in any other areas of the park. During the parks 60th anniversary there was also a few cute PhotoPass photo opps that really kept drawing me to come back again and again. Standing in the shade under those humongous clovers, and sitting on a Popsicle stick bench were perks as well.

Once I had kiddos with me at the parks, this area was a huge hit. Running around on the oversized garden hose water feature on a summer day was always a blast for kids of all ages. Baby Pie loved the Lady Bug Boogie and of course the beloved Chew Chew Train, which we will all miss the most. I am thankful that, "Flik's Flyers" is being rebranded as an, "Inside Out" ride for Pixar Pier, so we will always have a piece of A Bug's Land to remember. The bumper cars never really impressed me all that much. Sad to say, but what will be replacing A Bug's Land is more super hero, Marvel junk. I am not a fan. I really think in the next five years Disney's California Adventure Park will be seeing more changes and possibly a name change. Maybe Disney's Adventure Park? Disney's Super Adventure Park?
To say good bye to our bugs, we made a little farewell video. I hope you enjoy. We were so busy enjoying our favorite Chew Chew that we didn't film it recently, but you can see it in the video I mentioned, from the web series with Cupcake, called Pinup Adventures of Cupcake and Pie. Also, thank you DarkCo Photography for the last photos seen in the film.
Also, my sister and niece made their own A Bug's Land video a few years ago! Go ahead and enjoy more bugs fun!
