Moo La La Boutique – Fall Update

This was my first experience with Moo La La Children's Boutique Consignment sale and it went very smoothly. I ended up dropping off 87 items that had a value of $550.00. The standard earnings on items is 60% but since I selected "donate all" instead of picking up my items that didn't sell, I received another 5%. This is a great incentive to donate the unsold items, and it also made it so I did not have to pick up my items, or my check (they mailed it out to me the day after pick up day). The sale started with pre sale tickets for Wednesday September 19th, and then was open to the public on Friday the 21st - Sunday the 23rd. Sunday the 23rd is discount day, and many items were an additional 50% off. When you consign your items you can choose to donate unsold and also have the choice to discount. I opted to discount, since I wasn't going to pick up, and wanted to sell as many items as possible.

When you sign up to consign you get access to an online system where you enter your items, and set their prices and descriptions. I really tried to set my prices fair, because I wanted as much as possible to sell. For instance, I sold a car seat that was under 6 months old for $20. No surprise, it sold on the first day. Bonus! When you sign in you can also select your drop off time, my time was Friday the 14th. Drop off was well run and I was in and out of there in about 40 minutes. When you drop off they do inspect your items, the goal is to have quality items, so make sure everything is stain free, and packaged nice and neat.

Out of my 87 items I sold 83% of my inventory (72 items) not to shabby! My sales were $391.50 making my cut from the sale, $254.48.

My goal for the sale was $150.00 and I was really hoping for $200.00. Surprisingly I busted all my hopes and made the $250.00!

Success!

I am already looking forward to the Spring sale! Each time I do a load of Baby Pie's laundry, I set aside things that no longer fit but are in great condition and put it in a storage bin in our guest room closet. Hopefully I can keep this up so I will already have a head start for the next sale. Also, I am going to start collecting all my wire hangers from the dry cleaner and keep them in the spare bed room. These are a must for selling clothes at a consignment sale.

Don't forget to visit Moo La La and sign up for updates, so you can get ready to shop or sell (or both!) at the next sale.
